Is my penis normal?

For most men, yes — and “normal” covers a far wider band than the question usually assumes. Clinicians measured 15,521 men (Veale et al., 2015) and found a mean erect length of 13.1 cm (5.2 inches) and girth of 11.66 cm (4.59 inches), with about 90% of men between 4.1 and 6.2 inches erect. Land anywhere in that range and you are squarely typical.

That band is roomy. Four inches sits near the 4th percentile — below average, but nowhere near abnormal. Five inches is around the 40th, just shy of the mean; 5.5 inches the 70th; 6 inches the 90th (1 in 10); 6.5 inches the 98th (1 in 50). The gap between “small” and “above average” is barely two inches, which is why so much of the worry is about a difference no one would notice.

The only medical cutoff is far below all of that. A true micropenis means an erect or stretched length under about 9.3 cm (3.7 inches), and it affects roughly 0.6% of men. The overwhelming majority who ask this question are not even close to that line.
